The problem is not the government, it’s the people. The individuals that make up society make choices – in this choice, they choose to indulge in gambling as a pasttime – which in turn catches the ever-money-hungry eye of the state. You cannot legislate morality, because morality only exists at the level of the individuals who make up a society; if society is “tolerant” of evil, then the government will be tolerant of “evil” as well. “All that is necessary for evil to truumph is for good men to do nothing.”

On Tuesday, 61% of the voters in North Carolina rushed to the polls in record numbers to defend natural marriage, passing a marriage amendment to their state constitution that defines marriage as “between one man and one woman.” One day later, President Barack Obama publicly declared that he favors legalizing same-sex marriage – bringing his public profession in line with his executive orders and public policy initiatives over the last 3 1/2 years.
As Christians and pro-marriage, pro-family conservatives, we have an opportunity to turn the tide in America, not only on marriage, but the entire amoral culture that has been advancing for the past 50 years. Now is our time to arise!
Nevertheless, one Senator told FRC President Tony Perkins, “We’re not hearing from the pastors.” Yet it is time for every elected representative to take a strong public stand! And they
need help from God’s spiritual leaders! This is the time for God’s pastors to provide the leadership only they can give. God has given them the anointing and unction to lead, not only for their local flock, but for their communities, and the nation. Like the colonial pastors who provided the biblical teaching, spiritual leadership and encouragement that enabled the Founders to stand up to Great Britain and establish a new nation, so our civil leaders need the leadership of our pastors now! But not only pastors. Rank and file believers across America must use their voices and authority as citizens to let their elected leaders know that they must stand for natural, biblical marriage–which has been honored by every major religion and every civilized culture for 6000 years of human history, until now.
* Please pray that Pastors and Christian leaders, young and old, will pull out the stops; preach the Word, write articles and letters to the editor; make personal contacts with those in civil authority, and fully enlist in this war for the preservation of the very foundations of our civilization. May this be the hour God turns the tide in America! Marriage must be preserved
intact! (Pr 28:4; Ps 11:3; Mt 19:4-6; 1 Tim 4:1-4; Jude 7)
* Please make your voice heard! The U.S. Capitol Switchboard number is 202-224- 3121. Speak out using social media. Now is the time for all Gods people to take a stand!

Those who oppose measures to protect the integrity of voting in Pennsylvania are taking the new “voter ID” law to court.

Attorney David Gersh states that “The state hasn’t shown that there’s a problem with people showing up at the polling place and saying they’re somebody who they’re not.”

Well, Mr. Gersh, let me help. Look HERE for “evidence.” or HERE. Or HERE. If you need more “evidence” just let me know – I’d be glad to help.

Your arguments against the law are specious. There is NO legitimate reason for anyone in Pennsylvania not to be able to obtain a valid photo ID. NONE. If a person really can’t figure it out, they can call any of a number of community support agencies that can help. If they still can’t get it, they can call their state representative’s office and they can help. If they STILL can’t get a legitimate photo ID, well – they’re probably the very people who SHOULDN’T be voting, and that’s what the law is designed for.

There are plenty of truly bad laws in Pennsylvania that you could help to correct, Mr. Gersh. The Voter ID law isn’t one of them. Sure, it might get your name in the paper, but ultimately, in attempting to make a constitutional case against this law, you are challenging the integrity of the voting process itself, and you are saying, in essence, that you really just don’t care about a just and fair electoral process.

It will be interesting to see on what grounds this law could be declared “unconstitutional.”

As I have said before, the correct answer to this issue is not more power invested at the state level, but more power invested at the local level. We need to return county Sheriff’s departments to the level of authority they had prior to 2006, when a series of court decisions stripped sheriffs of some of their power.

We need to fight to keep law enforcement authority close to home. Here’s my case for restoring (and increasing, actually) the authority of the County Sheriff’s office:

Sheriffs are elected officials, not appointed officials; this keeps the law enforcement authority in the hands of the people, where it belongs.

Sheriffs have local jurisdictions – again, keeping law enforcement “close to the people” that are being served.

In very rural parts of the state Sheriffs and their deputies may well be all the police force that is needed if appropriate authority was granted to this office. This really is somewhat a geographic issue; While rural populations are smaller, a large percentage of Pennsylvania is still rural, and these are the constituents that would benefit most from a strong local law enforcement presence, which could best be provided by the local Sheriff’s office. Often small communities are forced to hire police forces due to the disparity in Pennsylvania law related to the authority of police vs. Sheriffs; if we could eliminate this barrier we could save rural communities money by allowing then to “consolidate” their law enforcement needs under the office of the local Sheriff.

In more metropolitan areas the Sheriff’s office should still be granted greater (at least equal) standing in comparison to municipal police forces, where the Chief of Police is appointed rather than elected and is therefore often subject to greater (negative) political pressure because he/she does not answer to the electorate.

What you should do:

Contact your state senator, representative, and the governor’s office and make your opinion known. Tell them you want law enforcement moved closer to home, and not concentrated in Harrisburg. HB 466 was defeated in 2008; we need to reintroduce similar legislation and educate the public on the importance of increasing the role of the local sheriff in law enforcement, in coordination with municipal police forces and the State Police.

Support your local sheriff, and support the Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Association.

Pennsylvania needs a better defined and more coordinated law enforcement system; but moving all the power to Harrisburg is not the most efficient, or the most cost effective, or the safest solution for Pennsylvania’s citizens.

Voter ID Law Will Be Phased in for Primary Election

Administration officials are reminding voters who are coming to the polls for the April 24 primary election that they will be asked to present photo ID as the Department of State embarks on a “soft rollout” of the state’s new voter ID law.

While ID will not be required for the April 24 primary election, it will be necessary for voters in the November general election. People who arrive at the polls in November without valid ID will have the opportunity to vote by provisional ballot and present identification within six days to the appropriate county board of elections.

Act 18 of 2012 requires registered voters to present valid photo identification every time they appear to vote and also requires those using absentee ballots to submit proof of identification. Valid forms of identification must include a name, photo and expiration date, except when an individual presents a military identification card. A driver’s license or identification card issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), military identification cards, cards issued by an accredited Pennsylvania higher education institution and licensed long-term care facility will all be accepted.
